This delicious and quick Guacamole recipe is a must-have. It is fresh, mouth-watering, and ready in no time with few ingredients.
The bright green and creamy texture of avocado combined with the lemon juice, tiny crumbs of cherry tomatoes, red onion and the spicy flavour of garlic is all you need for a healthy and delicious snack.
We make it as breakfast, or as a sauce for these Yummy quesadillas. And occasionally, we prepare it as a sauce for tortilla chips at movie nights.
It has never been so simple with the ingredients for this recipe! All you need is a ripe avocado, one big garlic clove or two small ones, a bit of red onion, two cherry tomatoes, lime juice, and seasoning. It only takes 10 minutes, 4 steps and 5 ingredients.
3 reasons why you need to try this quick guacamole recipe
- Is easy to make.
- It’s the perfect snack if you want to lose weight. It has healthy fats and keeps you satiated.
- Will keep you satiated. I remember my fiancé, Vlad, always says that when eating avocado at breakfast, it keeps him full until lunch.

The avocado & guacamole curiosities you probably don't know about.
Although many mistake avocado for a vegetable, it is actually a fruit.
And like many fruits, for example, apples, it starts to brown when you peel its skin. This process of browning is a reaction to oxygen and a so-called shield of self – defence against parasites or bacteria, to “shoo” them away and stay healthy as long as it takes.
That is why you should use lemon juice! Because its acidic composition disables the browning and keeps its bright green colour.
Another fun fact is that the most popular type – the Hass Avocado is also called “alligator pear”, a name I came across when reading this article from Healthline.com. And that is due to its particular pear shape and the bumpy green-ish skin which looks a lot alligator’s skin.
Guacamole, on the other hand, is one of the most popular snacks around the world made of avocados.
We associate it with modern Mexican cuisine. But, it was born much earlier in the timeline, during the rule of the Aztec empire.
You know, I’m amazed by how some recipes have been passed through generations and centuries to be on our plates on this present day.
Thus, I believe that every delicious recipe worth trying, like this one, will be written somewhere for someone to cook, even after thousands of years.
- Transylvanian Garlic Sauce that keeps Dracula away
- 1 Ripe Avocado
- 1 Big Garlic Clove / 2 small ones
- 2 Cherry Tomatoes
- ¼ Small Red Onion
- ¼ tsp Oregano
- ¼ tsp Salt
- ¼ tsp Black Pepper
- Juice from half of a lime/lemon
Cut the avocado in half and remove the pit with a knife. Usually, I carefully tap the knife in the pit and rotate it a bit. Thus it comes out easily. Using a tablespoon scoop out the avocado and place it in a large bowl.
Mash the avocado with a fork or a blender until it transforms into a smooth paste. Add the lime juice to stop the browning and mix until is well blended. Clean the garlic, crush it and add it to the mixture.
Wash the cherry tomatoes and halve them. Remove the core using a teaspoon or a paring knife. Dice the four halves as small as you can and toss them into the bowl.
Dice the red onion as small as possible and add it to the avocado mixture along with the freshly ground black pepper, salt, Italian seasoning, or oregano.
Now grab a bowl of tortilla chips, bread, or crackers and serve immediately.
If you don’t have cherry tomatoes you can use half of a small regular tomato (but don’t forget to remove the core). Instead of lime juice, you can safely use lemon juice. Both work perfectly fine.
The truth is that you don’t always find ripe avocados. In this case, my advice is to buy them in advance and let them ripe for a couple of days at home in a dark and dry place. Another alternative is to place them around ripe bananas. They can speed up the ripening process.Did You Make This Recipe?Show your masterpiece to the world, tag
