Did you wonder how to cook and prepare asparagus? Here’s the thing, me too! That is why I wrote this article, to tell you about its secret spot and to guide you to cook the best of it.
I’ve eaten asparagus for the first time at a barbecue with some of my friends.
Do you know that moment when you become obsessed with some ingredient and use it in every recipe you can?! That’s what I did. If I could, I’d cook it as a side dish for every meal. That strong was the love at the first bite with asparagus.
Wash the asparagus thoroughly.
Step 2: Prepare the asparagus
One by one, snap or trim the “woody ends”, about 2 - 4 cm. There is a natural point where the woody end breaks, you just have to bend it and it will easily break, almost by itself.
Step 3: Trim it and cook it!
Trim the asparagus in around 5-6 cm sticks. To cook it, add 1 tbsp of olive oil in a frying pan and preheat it over high-medium heat. Add the asparagus, sprinkle it with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Cook it for around 6 minutes, until it browns.
You may serve it as a snack with mozzarella, cheddar or burrata cheese. This will make the perfect snack if you are a vegetarian, on a low-carb diet or if you just want some diversity in your diet.
If you want a proper meal, serve it with poultry or fish. Try our Oven baked salmon with asparagus and lemony sauce.
! Asparagus with thin spears are better for cooking over the stove and the one with thick spears are better oven-roasted.
